New Universal Mega Movie Parade Debuts at Universal Studios Florida

The new Universal Mega Movie Parade debuted in technical rehearsal on June 3rd 2024 at Universal Studios Florida!
The parade features brand-new 13 floats and over 100 performers, including dancers, skaters, stilt walkers, and poi artists, all enhanced with special effects. Universal Orlando says it’s their biggest daytime parade to date.
The parade celebrates iconic movies like Jaws, E.T., Ghostbusters, and Back to the Future, plus other favorites from DreamWorks and Illumination.
This is the first time since 2022, that Universal Orlando has brought back a daytime parade.

Originally, Universal Orlando announced July 3 would be the official opening day for the Universal Mega Movie parade. However, on July 2nd, Universal stated July 3rd would be the beginning of technical rehearsals. This means some elements of the parade may not be available, or not fully working yet.

Universal Mega Movie Parade Overview

The Universal Mega Movie Parade starts with a Universal themed float. One the float you’ll see the Universal Mega Movie Parade logo, and various scenes from the upcoming parade floats.

Back to the Future Float

This float is led by performers dancing and some on one-wheel skateboards. The float features Doc Brown and Marty McFly, the time circuit clock and the Hill Valley Courthouse, the clever signage of the Twin Pines Mall and the Lone Pine Mall signage, a nod of the movies portrayal on time travel.

Sing Float

The Sing float recreates a stage for the movie’s performers – Rosita, Gunter, and Johnny. Above them, you’ll see Buster Moon atop a moon. Keep your eyes peeled for Miss Crawly at the back of the Sing float.

Minions Float

Performers on rollerblades lead the way. This float shows the Minions throughout history. There are 3 minions dressed in disco outfits, getting groovy to classic songs like Funky Town!
There’s also other Minions dressed as icons through the ages, and taking part in famous historical moments. For examples, King Bob, a Minion Napoleon, and the pyramids being constructed upside-down.

Kung Fu Panda Float

Leading the way are performers showing off their kung fu moves, with a mix of martial arts. On the Kung Fu Panda float you’ll see Dragon Warrior, Po, andTigress in front of Mr. Ping’s Noodle Cart.

Ghostbusters Float

Trolls Float

The Caterbus, has Poppy, Branch, and Guy Diamond on top riding along.also You'll recognize the Caterbus from the new Trolls Trollercoaster in DreamWorks Land!

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial Float

In font of the E.T. float you see a few performers on bikes, showing off some their tricks. The float itself, depicts one of the most iconic scenes from the E.T. movie. The scene flying through the sky on bicycles, with our Elliott and E.T. up top.
In the trees, don’t miss E.T.’s spaceship being hidden towards the back!

Jaws Float

A crowd favorite, the JAWS portion of the Mega Movie parade starts off with a marching band leading the procession, their banner stating “Welcome Amity 4th of July Celebration.”
The focal point of the float is Bruce in the center. The float shows the moment where the boat Quint is standing on is torn in half. I love the detail of the waves engulfing them.
Keep your ears open for Quint to yell, “Full throttle!”

Jurassic World Float

The finale of the parade DOES NOT disappoint!
This portion of the parade is classified as having 2 floats. The first, is the gyrosphere. Following the gyrosphere, is a HUGE Tyrannosaurus rex towering over the iconic Jurassic Park jeep that’s been crushed.
This dinosaur is actually a puppet and not an animatronic! She not only moves but also roars. Peep the saliva dangling from its jaws! An absolute genius detail for Universal Orlando to include.
