Ranking Universal Orlando’s 2024 Halloween Horror Nights Haunted Houses

HHN season has kicked off with a boom! Halloween Horror Nights is back for year 33, with a line-up of 10 houses, 5 scare zones, and the return of Nightmare Fuel!
After 4 HHN33 nights during opening weekend at Universal Orlando Resort, this is how I've ranked the Halloween Horror Nights haunted houses in 2024.

Ranking Universal Orlando’s 2024 Halloween Horror Nights Houses

From staying dead quiet in A Quiet Place, to giant Goblins, here are the 10 houses of Halloween Horror Nights 33, ranked. Everyone’s opinions and house ranking are different, and that’s totally okay.
Varying haunted houses runs and the frequency of scare actor jumps will 100% shape your opinions. These rankings always change the further we get into the Halloween Horror Nights season.

SPOILERS BELOW!

10. The Museum: Deadly Exhibits

The museum details inside are really impressive, and Universal Orlando did a great job in making this house really feel like a museum but the actual storyline, weird monsters, and random objects jumping out just didn’t do it for me.
Here’s the Storyline: The Museum of International Folklore has revealed a new exhibit, The Rotting Stone, that has let loose an evil spirit that is decaying everything in its path. This means that not only are there museum workers that have been mutilated, and museum objects also come to life and ready to attack you.

Set, vibes, scare wise: 6/10

9. Triplets of Terror

The Triplets of Terror House is about the Barmy triplets—Melody, Junior, and Harmony—who killed their family at their 9th birthday party and celebrate the event with a new massacre every decade. Triplets of Terror will show you each of these brutal birthdays over the years, told from a true-crime podcast.
As you first enter the Barmy family home, you watch as their mother begs for her life before she’s killed. You’ll walk through the decades of the home murders, as the triplets show off their violence and murder trophies.
I love a good Universal Orlando Halloween Horror Nights slasher house, and I’m excited it had the true crime podcast vibes, but this one is a bit repetitive at times. as you know each new house is going to have the same three characters jumping out.

Set, vibes, scare wise: 6.5/10

8. Major Sweets Candy Factor

I LOVE that the Sweet Revenge scare zone became a house this year! This house is really interactive, and smells good.
In 2022, Halloween Horror Nights guests were introduced to a scarezone known as Sweet Revenge, in which an evil candymaker’s treats turned a town’s children into maniacal murderers. This year, the candymaker gets his own house with Major Sweet’s Candy Factory, as Major Sweets and Miss Treats welcome a school field trip to their factory of cruel confections.
This house smells good, is fun and somewhat silly. Major Sweet’s Candy Factory also includes several Guest Activated Triggers, AKA as a GAT, which guests can push to elicit an effect in the house. Keep your eyes peeled for 2 red buttons, a candy dish and more!

Set, vibes, scare wise: 7.5/10

7. Monstrous: Monsters of Latin America

I had such high hopes with this house because it was incredible at Universal Hollywood’s 2023 Halloween Horror Nights. Maybe I set the bar too high, it just wasn’t as terrifying for me.
Universal Orlando’s version of Monstruos features more scenes than the house at Universal Hollywood. Inside you’ll meet Tlahuelpuchi as she steals an infant to suck its blood, a huge puppet of the Witch Owl creature, La Lechuza, and the disconcerting presence El Silbón that follows you through the house.

Set, vibes, scare wise: 8/10

6. Goblin’s Feast

This is your feel good laugh, campy haunted house. The goblin at the end of this house is IMPECCABLE. I want him to be the next Halloween Horror Nights Icon!
In Goblin’s Feast, as you enter a goblin village that is preparing for its annual feast. Little do you know, the main course of the feast is humans.
Goblin’s Feast did a great job putting a twist a happy annual celebration by turning into something way more sinister. While making your way through the house, you see the transition from being a visitor at the goblin’s feast to becoming the meal!

Set, vibes, scare wise: 8/10

5. Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines

This house gives us a fun new twist by having all female Universal Monsters. LOVE TO SEE IT!
The storyline is about Van Helsing’s daughter, Saskia Van Helsing teaming up with the Bride of Frankenstein against monsters like the She-Wolf, Dracula’s daughter, and Anck-Su-Namun from The Mummy. The Eternal Bloodlines’ story however can get a little lost in the mix, and if you’re not super caught up on the story ahead of time, it can become difficult to follow among all the jump scares.
I hate to compare, but for me, this house just doesn’t compare to the most recent Universal Monsters houses from past HHN seasons.

Set, vibes, scare wise: 8/10

4. A Quiet Place

I have been pleasantly surprised guests have are actually tried to be quiet while experiencing this haunted house. It’s makes for such a unique haunted house experience in my humble opinion.
The entrance has you walking in complete darkness, and it’s so freaky! It definitely adds to the ambiance of the house. This one has some really good jump scares from the Death Angels that seem to come out of every nook in the house.
I’m bummed you can scream your head off or stay silent, and your walkthrough house experience will be the exact same. I was hoping there would be a way to make the amount of sound a guest makes part of the scare experience in this house.

Set, vibes, scare wise: 9/10

3. Ghostbusters Frozen Empire

Blown away by phenomenal production design. After my first run I thought this house was meh. Every run after, the scare actor vibes, great jump scares from the gigantic Garraka’s, & seeing new little details every run has made it a house I’ll want to stay & scream for throughout Halloween Horror Nights 2024.
This is THE house to take your friends you had to beg to do HHN into. Even those not really into spooky events will enjoy this haunted house.

Set, vibes, scare wise: 9.5/10

2. Insidious: The Further

Scariest house this year. It takes a lot for me to get spooked in a house, but boy did it get me. Even after the first run with me knowing what to expect, I still got got each run.
There are a good amount of scare actors that come out at you from both sides in an unnerving way. I’m talking like left, right, in front, above, everywhere you least expect in the moment.
There’s also not 1, but 2 mannequin rooms making this house feel extra long. You just wanna get OUT! HA HA

Set, vibes, scare wise: 10/10

1. Slaughter Cinema 2

In 2018, the first Slaughter Sinema took us into the world of various B-movies, & became a guest favorite. Slaughter Cinema 2 takes you into a movie theater with all sorts of cheesy horror films, with each new room representing a new movie.
For example, Blood & Chum centers around a jaws like shark . I never knew I’d enjoy a mummy strip club movie? HA HA.

Set, vibes, scare wise: 10/10!

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida runs select nights now through November 3, 2024!
