2024 Halloween Horror Nights Haunted Houses at Universal Hollywood
A QUIET PLACE
Want to live another day in this post-apocalyptic world? You’re going to have to keep your mouth shut. In “A Quiet Place,” any sound you emit — screams, gasps, even a creak in floorboard — can be your demise.
While the prequel film, “A Quiet Place: Day One” hits theaters on June 28, 2024, this house lives in the world of “A Quiet Place” (2018) and “A Quiet Place Part II” (2020). In this universe, Earth has been overtaken by horrifying, sightless creatures who find their prey with their exceptional hearing.
The only way to survive is by staying completely silent. In this HHN house, you, like the Abbott family (those films’ protagonists), will creep from the farmhouse to the woods to the foundry in complete quiet. That is, you’d better move in complete quiet. One slip-up and you’ll summon the terrifying creatures, who will silence you for good.
1 of the most exciting aspects of this house is its incorporation of American Sign Language (ASL). The use of ASL is a key plot point in both “A Quiet Place” films, so its presence at HHN enhances the authenticity of the house. This is the first time we’ll experience ASL in an HHN house — and we can’t wait.
GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN EMPIRE
Make sure you pack a sweater, ‘cause it’s about to get chilly at HHN! In “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” — based on the 2024 installation of the beloved comedy-sci fi flicks — an ancient artifact has released a chilling new specter named Garraka. Garraka’s goal?
Destroy humanity by unleashing a new ice age unto Earth.
In this all-new haunted house, you’ll have to dodge spears of ice as Garraka and his army of ghosts freeze people before your very eyes. Luckily, when it comes to ghosts, you know who to call. Stick with the Ghostbusters.
Only they can stop you from getting iced — not to mention, save the world as we know it.
INSIDIOUS: THE FURTHER
You may think this house is at Halloween Horror Nights, but it actually exists on a plane of the undead.
Sorry! In “Insidious: The Further,” you’ll enter a dimension which is neither heaven nor hell, but a dark place where some souls are stuck for eternity. And those malevolent spirits desperately want to trap you in The Further forever.
Watch out for KeyFace, a horrifying creature who uses his key-shaped fingertips to lock human souls inside The Further. And definitely don’t fall for the Red-Faced Demon’s attempts to get you inside
The Red Door, as he just wants to possess your living body. Will you be able to make it back to the realm of the living?
THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE LEGACY OF LEATHERFACE
Hold onto your face skin, ‘cause Leatherface is back at HHN! To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original film, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” is back at Halloween Horror Nights.
This time, though, it’ll feature an entirely new concept. You’ll be lured into the Sawyer family slaughterhouse — a location that’s referenced in the films, but never shown — where this cannibal family processes human meat.
All the meanwhile, you’ll be terrorized by Leatherface, the Saywer family member who carries out murders on the family’s behalf.
The iconic killer will wear several of his chilling masks throughout the experience, a nod to the horror franchise’s half-century legacy. Just try not to become meat yourself.
THE WEEKND: NIGHTMARE TRILOGY
The Weeknd is bringing his dark and twisted fantasies to Halloween Horror Nights once again, this time with a brand-new story.
“The Weeknd: Nightmare Trilogy” spawns from the artist’s two most recent albums, “After Hours” (2020) and “Dawn FM” (2022), plus a horrifying new tale.
The house will blend the Weeknd’s infectious pop beats with his surreal visual fantasies to create a completely engrossing experience. Fans should keep their eyes peeled for moments from The Weeknd’s music videos and live performances.
IIf this year’s installment is anything like his 2022 HHN house “The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare,” it’s sure to be unforgettable.
UNIVERSAL MONSTERS: ETERNAL BLOODLINES
Get caught in the crosshairs of an epic battle between Universal Monsters in this brand-new haunted house!
Here’s the story: Saskia Van Helsing, the last descendant of infamous monster hunter Abraham Van Helsing, has continued on the family mission to obtain the Amun Ra amulet.
Though she has the Bride of Frankenstein on her side, to retain the amulet they must defeat three other terrifying monsters: Dracula’s Daughter, She-Wolf and Anck-su-namun. It’s the ultimate femme fatale showdown.
Not only does this house features an all-female cast of characters, it gives fans a chance to get to know more beasts in the Universal Monsters world. Considering the success of the 2021 HHN house, “Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives,” we can’t wait to dig deeper into this horrifying world.
DEAD EXPOSURE: DEATH VALLEY
Doesn’t it seem like top-secret experiments always go horribly wrong just as you arrive at Halloween Horror Nights? In “Dead Exposure: Death Valley,” you’ll wind through a covert government facility where officials are creating super soldiers.
Unfortunately, everything goes haywire right as you arrive. And you’ll soon discover that, instead of super soldiers, the facility has (accidentally) created an army of radioactive zombies. Best of luck escaping!
MONSTRUOS 2: THE NIGHTMARES OF LATIN AMERICA
If you loved the “Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America” house in 2023 (and who didn’t?), you’re in luck!
You’ll get to futher explore the terrifying universe of Latin American horror-folklore in this all-new, original house.
In “Monstruos 2: The Nightmares of Latin America,” El Muerte will return to guide you through a graveyard of mythic monsters, including the soul-stealing rider, El Charro; the supernatural, doglike spirit El Cadejo, who roams quiet roads at night in search of prey; and the child-eating bogeyman, El Cucuy.
2024 SCARE ZONES at Universal Studios Hollywood
CHAINSAW PUNKZ
At HHN, the games begin the second you step onto the Universal lot!
Enter the theme park and you’ll immediately find yourself amongst the Chainsaw Punkz, a gang of chainsaw-wielding punk rockers decked out in masks and mohawks. Guitar isn’t the only thing these rockers are trying to shred, if you catch my drift.
At least those chainsaws will be a good motivation for you to beeline for your favorite HHN house.
MURDER OF CROWZ
Did you know crows are actually at the top of the food chain? At least, they are at HHN. In Murder of Crowz, you’ll find yourself in a massive crows nest, alongside some crows who are nothappy to see you.
To defend their territory, the flock of fearsome feathered fowl descend upon you, determined to pick your bones clean. After all, they don’t call a group of these birds a murder of crows for no reason.
SKULL LORDZ
Expect a royal welcome in this scare zone, but probably not the kind you’re hoping for. Welcome to the realm of the Skull Lordz.
This scare zone is ruled by gothic kings and queens, who rule over a royal court of the undead in their ghostly kingdom. You’d better not cross these ghoulish overlords, lest you hope to meet your own bloody demise.
LUCHADORES MONSTRUOSOS
Lucha Libra is usually just plain fun, but at HHN, it’s just plain fear. Welcome to Luchadores Monstruosos. This scare zone is inspired by the Lucha Libre, the theatrical style of wrestling originating in Mexico.
In it, guests will get caught in the middle of a Lucha Libre horror film, where two masked wrestlers — called luchadores — square off against a horde of monsters. Can you make it through this horror scene?
TERROR TRAM: ENTER THE BLUMHOUSE
Buckle up for the most thrilling tram ride of your life. This HHN, the Studio Tour will be overtaken by Blumhouse, a driving force in horror.
The experience will feature a terrifying gauntlet of Blumhouse characters terrorizing the Universal backlot, including The Grabber, the sadistic killer from “The Black Phone” (2021), and M3GAN, the murderous doll with undeniable dance moves from “M3GAN” (2023).
Expect moments from other modern Blumhouse classics like The Purge franchise, “Happy Death Day,” and “Freaky,” too.
2024 Halloween Horror Nights Entertainment Offerings at Universal Hollywood
THE PURGE: DANGEROUS WATERS
The stunt show debuted in 2023 at Universal Studios Hollywood HHN32, and is returning for another year of scares at HHN33.
The horrifying stunt-tacular returns to HHN for another season! “The Purge: Dangerous Waters” is a one-of-a-kind live show that takes place in the WaterWorld venue at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The show, which was created in collaboration with Blumhouse, tells an original story that takes place in the universe of “The Purge” films. In it, certain civilians flee to a remote island for safety — but no location is free from the chaos of The Purge. Expect jaw-dropping stunts and a whole lot of pyrotechnics.
